About Sables
Sables Mission
To further the understanding of our outdoor heritage, including the positive role of hunting, through the creating and support of wildlife and conservation educational programs that are consistent with the educational mission and purposes of SCI and SCI Foundation.
Founded in 1984 by the women of SCI, Sables’ members are primarily made up of women that come from diverse backgrounds. All women are welcome! We provide a space for women where they can support one another. While many of the women who make up Sables participate in hunting, there are many who don’t. The women who make up Sables typically have the following in common.
- A passion for conservation and education.
- An understanding that hunting is a socially and culturally acceptable activity.
Using our special mix of fun, food, forming new friendships, volunteering, and fundraising, SCIF Sables raises money for SCIF’s education-based programs. These programs focus on conservation and increasing social acceptance of hunting and its important role in conservation and wildlife management.

Since 2000, SCI Foundation has provided more than $80 million to promote science-based conservation through wildlife research, capacity building in governments, youth and teacher education, and humanitarian programs that show the importance of the hunting community in society around the world. Growth of SCI Foundation has continued to gain momentum through charitable donations from SCIF and SCI members. Throughout the world, SCI’s approximately 50,000 members and 190 chapters contribute time, talent, and financial support to local, national, and international projects.
