Dr. Chris Comer is the Safari Club International Foundation (SCIF) Director of Conservation.  Dr. Comer brings 20 years of experience in wildlife research management to the Foundation.  Most recently, this was at the Arthur Temple College of Forestry and Agriculture at Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas, where he was the R.E. Minton Distinguished Professor of Forest Wildlife Management.  He holds a Ph.D. in Wildlife Management from the University of Georgia, an M.S. from Penn State and a B.A. from Carleton College.  Chris’s research has been focused on the impacts of on-the-ground conservation and habitat management for game and nongame wildlife populations.  This has included research black bears, wild turkeys, American woodcock, and white-tailed deer.  He is also currently working on revising an introductory textbook in wildlife management (Wildlife Ecology and Management by Eric Bolen and William Robinson). 

Chris was born in Minnesota but grew up in the mountains of western North Carolina hiking and generally messing about with critters of all descriptions from snakes to white-tailed deer.  He is an avid big game and bird hunter and enjoys spending time outside with his wife and three children.
