Combat Veteran Honored with Unforgettable Hunt

SCIF Veterans Committee recognizes a veteran through a once-in-a-lifetime hunting experience.

Courtesy of the Safari Club International Foundation (SCIF) Veterans Committee and the Music City SCI Chapter, a deserving U.S. Combat Veteran was honored over a three-day hunting journey in Texas. Kevin Peters received the SCIF Combat Veteran Award during the 2025 SCI Convention in Nashville, TN.

The adventure was a trip donated by Union Hill Hunting to hunt Axis deer. James Lakeman and Mandey Phillips covered the cost of the animal. Kevin was accompanied by his friend, Mark Moore, SCI Music City Chapter Liaison (and described by Kevin as one of the best guys he has ever met), SCI Music City Chapter members, and Adam Roberts, Union Hill Hunting guide. They embarked on a trip creating extraordinary memories that will last a lifetime. The unforgettable, fun, action-packed trip with the boys was filled with hunting, tracking, harvesting and fishing. All was provided to honor this incredible Combat Veteran who risked his life, going above and beyond the call of duty for our great country. Mark Moore also brought photographer and videographer, Finley Dunlop, to capture the experience and retell the story of the incredible trip.

The location of the hunting journey was at the Union Hill headquarters in Kopperl, TX, which is located 90 minutes SW of Dallas/Ft. Worth Airport. The 14,000 sq. ft. lodge is nestled atop the pristine landscapes of Union Hill Ranches. You can contact Union Hill and see what services they offer at https://www.unionhillhunting.com/.

Shining light on, appreciating, and showcasing our nationโ€™s Veterans is a mission that SCI and SCIF will always support. We also appreciate Union Hill Hunting, James Lakeman, and Mandey Phillipโ€™s generosity for which this experience would not have been possible.
