SCIF Donates International Wildlife Museum Resources

After 35 years in existence, December of 2023 marked the closing of SCIF’s International Wildlife Museum. Keeping with SCIF’s long tradition of supporting other conservation, education, and humanitarian programs, donations were made from the International Wildlife Museum’s Gift Shop to More than a Bed and the Arizona Department of Game and Fish.

More than a Bed is a 501 c (3) organization located in Tucson, AZ. Its mission is “To provide essential items to foster, kinship and adoptive families for the children in their homes, including those in a congregate care setting, because every child deserves to be valued.” SCIF is supporting More than a Bed’s mission and purpose with its recent donation of stuffed animal inventory from the gift shop. Staff from More than a Bed recently visited the museum to receive this gracious donation to disseminate among the families they serve in the Tucson and Pima County area.

Arizona Game and Fish Department (AZGFD) has been a long-time supporter of SCIF and its programming. As a state agency, AZGFD’s mission is “To conserve Arizona’s diverse wildlife resources and manage for safe, compatible outdoor recreation opportunities for current and future generations.” One of the agency’s major programs is their Learn to Hunt programming designed to grow new hunter’s knowledge of conservation, fair chase, fair share, hunters’ ethics, and hunters’ image. To help support this programming, SCIF has donated items from the gift shop in the form of compasses, head lamps, flashlights, field guides, and outdoor related games and prizes

SCIF is pleased to be able to support both great organizations. If you would like to learn more about either More than a Bed or the Arizona Game and Fish Department or their respective programs you can find them at https://morethanabed.org/ and https://www.azgfd.com/.
