This powerful film showcases the remarkable story of one of America’s greatest wildlife comebacks—the resurgence of the Louisiana black bear.

It chronicles the incredible journey of the Louisiana black bear from the brink of extinction in the early 1990s to its thriving status today. This recovery is a testament to the power of science, landowner collaboration, and responsible wildlife management.
Maria Davidson, SCI Foundation Large Carnivore Manager and former Large Carnivore Program Manager at the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries, expressed her excitement, stating, “Recovering a large carnivore in a state dominated by private lands seemed impossible. But with the support of private landowners, we proved it could be done.”
The film celebrates the unprecedented collaboration among state and federal agencies, conservation organizations, and private landowners, all of whom played vital roles in restoring bear habitats, conducting pioneering research, and engaging communities in conservation efforts.
